The Warrior line, known for its 19mm thickness, leans more towards control than pure power. However, it packs a surprising punch for such a thick paddle. Don’t expect the effortless power of thermoformed options, but the V2 should satisfy most players.

The stiffer V2 delivers a slight edge in power compared to the original Warrior. While it has a touch less plow-through power due to its lighter weight, you can still unleash powerful serves, drives, and overheads. 

It might require a bit more effort than thermoformed paddles, but the V2 offers enough firepower to keep your opponent on their toes and close out points decisively.

Spin 

The original Warrior wasn’t known for its bite, and many hoped the V2 would address this. It offers a definite improvement over the original, likely thanks to the new carbon fiber face replacing the painted-on grit.

However, the improvement is modest. The V2 doesn’t compete with the top spin monsters on the market. My signature spin shots lacked the grip and dramatic drop I experienced with some other paddles.

Despite this, the V2’s spin will be sufficient for most players. You can still win points with strategic spins and control the ball’s direction. Just don’t expect the A+ spin performance offered by some specialized paddles.

Control

While the Warrior V2 offers good control, it might not quite match the original Warrior for some players. This is due to a combination of factors.

The 19mm thickness inherently creates a larger sweet spot, which is great for control. However, the edgeless design sacrifices some forgiveness on off-center hits compared to the original’s edge guard. While the Liquid Carbon Fiber edge support helps, adding edge foam could further improve off-center control.

Expect a slightly “dead” feeling on off-center hits compared to the original Warrior. This translates to resistance and feedback up your arm. Some players might prefer this feedback for better shot correction.

The paddle face itself isn’t stiff or hard, but it has a firm, responsive feel. This is a departure from the original’s softer, plusher surface. While I personally like the responsiveness, it does make controlling the ball a touch trickier compared to very soft paddles.
